JIUJIAN1MOROUND GOES GU MA JIA PTV KITCHEN RESTAURANT!

A cosy home cooking style with award winning dishes that melts in ones mouth and heart .
I must say I wasn’t really prepared to encounter such an authentic dining experience especially after coming back from a cross culture performing trip to Penang.
As I was led to the second floor of this private kitchen theme, home-style restaurant, I thought I was back again to some parts of Penang again. It is like visiting one of my aunties’ homes where we used to chit chat, relax andjust wait for our delicious dinner to be served

The Yuan Yang Gai Lan was my favorite in terms of health, creativity, taste and visual appeal. The Gai Lan leaves were fried like crispy nori, sprinkle on top of the stir fried Gai Lan crunchy stalks, giving it a different texture.

I am not into spicy food, but their signature Assam Fish Head was amazingly fresh and satisfying to the taste buds. Spiciness level is comfortable. I like that there is no coconut being used in this dish and instead lots of vegetables atop the dish. It is just so appetizing with its spicy, sour combination.

The White Pepper Crab was quite a surprise too! Very aromatic as the white pepper is specially imported from Sarawak. It blended so well with the fresh, juicy crab meat. You can taste the white pepper and the sweetness of the meat together, creating a unique taste that lingers on. They also sell the white pepper for home use.
Last but not least, the Kyoto Pork Ribs was so tender that I almost mistaken it as chicken with the special tangy sauce marinated and served with foil on hot plate to keep the dish warm and tantalizing.

Overall experience was surprisingly good and makes one want to re-visit this private kitchen home-style concept restaurant.
Hmmm, I wonder what should I try on my next visit?

I am organizing a ‘Makan with Jiu Jian’ food tour soon. Join me on next my food adventure! to Gu Ma Jia.
We can get to learn how to create some dishes from Gu Ma herself as she will share with us some of her recipes.
